Your help is needed!
Beaver Valley delivers meals to Brandon community shut-ins during the months of March and August. During these months, we are in need of people to help deliver these meals. The meals are picked up at Split Rock Towers on Teakwood about 11:50 am. A resident that lives in the Splitrock Tower usually is waiting by the front door to let you in. Her name is Margaret. When she is there, she will deliver the meals in the tower. There are times she is unavailable so we are responsible for the meal delivery in the Towers. Each day the red and blue bags are exchanged for new ones from the driver of Active Generations. The empty bags are returned to the Splitrock Towers’ kitchen. When returning the red and blue bags there may not be anyone to open the security door, just leave the bags in the entry. Please call me if you have questions anytime during delivery. (Beth 261-3796)
There is a list of names and their addresses with directions on how to get to the houses.
First deliver the meals within the Towers and then deliver the rest of the meals. Depending upon the number of people receiving meals, it takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to deliver them.
It is a very rewarding experience and families with children may want to consider making it a family service project before school starts. Please sign up to help on the bulletin board by the church office. If you have not driven before, you need to fill out a volunteer application with your personal information. This form is necessary for liability for Active Generations.
Beaver Valley’s month to deliver Meals-on-Wheels is August 2017. If you would like to help with this great service in Brandon, a sign up calendar will be posted by the church office. It only takes about an hour at noon to deliver the meals, and this is a great opportunity to help others!
