August 7th, Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. – Outdoor Worship
This summer, we will again gather for worship on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. We are going to recommit to making sure that a campfire is lit as often as possible with some s’mores being enjoyed around the campfire after worship is over. There will occasionally be guest campfire worship leaders. Bring your lawn chairs and remind your neighbors, especially those who were gone over the weekend to join you!

August 18th, Sunday, 9:30 a.m.—Blessing of the Backpacks!
This has become a simple tradition here at Beaver Valley as in many congregations. We turn the children’s sermon into something a bit more: a blessing of the children and all adults involved in education at the start of another school year. So, yes, children bring your backpacks for a blessing and take home a little token to remind you that God promises to go with you wherever you go! (Also, after worship during the coffee hour, we gather outside to husk the corn that will be prepared for our corn feed later in the day.)
August 18th, Sunday, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Annual Sweet Corn Social
This is our congregation’s big, “front door” event of the year. We welcome hundreds of our neighbors who come to experience Beaver Valley’s hospitality. PLEASE be a part of this important evangelism event in some way! (Sign-up sheets are posted in the church hallway—see the article in this Tidings to get all the information.)
August 20th, Tuesday—Fall Handbook deadline
Our September edition of the Tidings is expanded a bit to include October, November, and even a few December highlights. So, please be working to help the office turn the handbook into something useful by getting to us as much information about events for the last four months of the year. Thanks!
August 28, Wednesday, 7:00 p.m.—The Final OUTDOOR worship service of the summer. (Hotdogs/S’more’s)
The suggestion has been made that we have the fire lit a bit earlier and we have some good beef hotdogs, some fresh buns, and bags of chips available for folks to come by 6:15 p.m. to enjoy a simple bite before worship begins at 7:00 p.m. Bring your own beverage! Let’s end the summer worship season with a nice crowd.
August 28, Wednesday, 8:00 p.m.—Informational meeting on the 2021, Senior High National Youth Gathering
First of all, why don’t you come for the last outdoor worship service of the summer, then stay for this important first meeting for those who might be interested in attending the 2021 National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis, MN. (see article)
